According to Order of President Ilham Aliyev about humanization of penal policy dated February 10, 2017, the Probation Service has been established in the Ministry of Justice in order to efficiently apply the types of punishment alternative to restraint of liberty, and the use of electronic control facilities (electronic bracelets) has been prescribed, the Ministry of Justice stated in response to ONA’s inquiry.
The Monitoring Center equipped with up-to-date equipment is functioning in the Probation service for this purpose.
It was noted that during 5 months of this year, 654 people subjected to the public works type of the administrative sanction and 354 people subjected to obligatory measures of medical nature for the purpose of treatment for alcohol or drug abuse are under probation control.
