On 28 March 2022, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) of the Russian Federation blocked four Azerbaijani Russian-language media. Since the beginning of the conflict between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, Haqqin.az, Virtual.az, Minval.az, and Musavat.com, have been blocked without prior warning by the Russian authorities. The Azerbaijani Journalist’s Trade Union accused the Russian Federation of blocking these media outlets because they were not in line with Moscow’s discourse on the war in Ukraine.
