The role of NGOs in Return process – Traning

On September 8, in Baku, “Return after 30 years” – the role of NGO’s in return process”, was conducted by the “Legal Analysis and Research” Public Union within the framework of the “Year of Shusha 2022” with the financial support of the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Training was held as part of the project “Increasing skills in the direction of the role of civil society in the return process and promotion of international experience”. The purpose of the training was to increase the knowledge and skills of representatives of NGOs who will work with the population in the future in the return process.

Demokrat.az informs that at the opening ceremony of the event doctor of philosophy in law, Aydın Safikhanli, head of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elgun Safarov, doctor of philosophy in law, head of the Department of Information and Analytical Research of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children’s Problems, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Elimination of Discrimination, and Mirhuseyn Huseynov, representative of the State Committee on Refugees and IDPs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, spoke.
Later, Ramil Iskandarli, chairman of the “Legal Analysis and Research” Public Union, and project trainers, independent lawyer Agamirza Bagirov, and youth specialist, UN consultant Nick Nvolisa spoke to NGOs about the process of return and resettlement, rights related to movement, prohibition of discrimination, rights related to reintegration, rights related to provision of special needs, participation of NGOs during return and resettlement, community-based rights, work with migrants, etc. topics were taught in order to increase their knowledge.
