First intersessional consultation of the Ad Hoc Committee on Cybercrime

In operative paragraph 2 the resolution 74/247, the General Assembly decided to establish the Ad Hoc Committee to Elaborate a Comprehensive International Convention on Countering the Use of Information and Communications Technologies for Criminal Purposes. In operative paragraph 10 of resolution 75/282, the General Assembly further decided to encourage the Chair of the Ad Hoc Committee to host intersessional consultations to solicit inputs from a diverse range of stakeholders on the elaboration of the draft convention.

In accordance with General Assembly resolution 75/282, the Ad Hoc Committee will hold its first intersessional consultation on 24 and 25 March 2022 in Vienna, Austria.

General information

Meeting times

The meetings of the first intersessional consultation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 6 p.m., Vienna time.

Format

The meetings of the first intersessional consultation will be held in English only in a hybrid format by which the delegations have the choice to participate in the meeting in person (limited to a first come, first serve basis), through MS Teams, or by both means.

The first intersessional consultation will be held in Boardroom D, C-Building, 4th floor of the Vienna International Centre (VIC).

Call for panellists

The representatives of multi-stakeholders, as indicated in paragraphs 7 and 8, as well as multi-stakeholders, as approved by the Ad Hoc Committee on 24 February 2022 in line with paragraph 9 of General Assembly resolution 75/282 (full list in annex I here) are invited to the meeting and may serve as panellists in one of the three panels of the intersessional consultations: “Criminalization”, “General Provisions”, and “Procedural Measures and Law Enforcement”. Such panels will precede a discussion to which stakeholders, Member States and Observers will have the opportunity to contribute.

Representatives of the organizations that fall under one of the above-mentioned categories and wish to serve as panellists may send an e-mail to cybercrimeahc@un.org expressing their interest and with information on the name and title of the representative as well as the agenda item under which they wish to present, as soon as practical and at the latest by close of business on Monday, 21 March 2022. Requests will be taken into account based on geographical and gender balance, and further information will be provided to panellists in due course.
